To celebrate the hubby’s birthday we chose to hit up the iconic hotel of Virginia, the Omni Homestead Resort. Being it was going to be an 8 hour drive, we stopped off 5 hours into the drive to visit some family West VA. After the break, we drove 3.5 hours more to the mountains of VA…Hot Springs, to be exact.
We were definitely impressed by the hotel as we approached, it is just grand. Check in and all the admin stuff went quickly and smoothly so we were pool-side within 15 minutes. There was a kid splash park/sand area, a large pool and also a lazy river with 2 water slides…Options for the whole family. Staff was super friendly and helpful, cocktails were pretty good too 🙂

Each day we had activities we paid for in our package: mini-golf, a hike to view the cascades and a tractor ride to go roast some smores. There were many more offerings but because we had a child under 6, a bunch of things were off the list. Tip: Call to check what your kids can do and make reservations; things fill up quick.

The resort had lots to offer, which was great because there was not much around to entertain us around the town otherwise. Things like the arcade, lawn games and kids movies were all included, but we did pay for a kids club evening where the kids were taken care of by the staff and played games, did activities and crafts for a bit while us adults went to dinner. Tip: It seemed you could decide that day for kids club, they didn’t seem busy.
Checking out was fast and we got on our way back to West VA. Our pit stop was fun and got some rest before the night-time drive back home. All in all, a fun time and a nice way to celebrate a birthday.
