I got an email just a week or 2 before booking iconic hotel #4…There was a sale I felt we couldn’t pass up! On Christmas Day we headed to Bedford Springs, PA and wow! What a sight…Pulling up to the Omni Bedford Springs the lights and the tree outside were just perfect. We walked in and just felt a warm, Christmas feeling. The trees, the nutcrackers, fireplace, etc. Just a really festive ambiance.
The kids were so excited with all the lights and were ready to get this trip going. Since we got there in the evening we hopped in the indoor pool and then went to eat. We tried the story time but wasn’t really what we expected so the kids went back to the room with our cousins and my husband, and I got to do the ghost/historic tour (9pm). The tour guide was very good and knowledgeable; he gave us a lot of insight into the history of the hotel (built in 1806) including stories of how the children of the well-to-do would be taken care of there as time went on.

The following days we had a packed schedule. We took the kids out to eat then off to ice skating, a movie, then we made it to the Christmas light drive-thru (all of these were in Altoona which was like 20-30 min from the hotel). It was the kids’ first time ice skating and they loved it which was great and sat through the whole movie (Lyle, Lyle Crocodile).
Even though we left the property to fill our days, there seemed to be a lot to do at the hotel. Because it was winter, we didn’t get to get involved too much outside, but would definitely go back and see what the warmer days would bring. We had wanted to go tubing (only 30 min or so away) but they weren’t open so Tip: For those who go in winter and want to do outdoor activities, you’d be better off going maybe Jan/Feb or make sure, at the very least, to call ahead and confirm they are open.
All in all a fun trip at the Omni Bedford Springs…Lots to see and do for the whole family!
